The Club

The English Football Club Berlin e.V. is an international football club based in Berlin-Zehlendorf. We are open to any nationality and English-speaking coaches conduct the training and games. We currently run six youth teams and a veteran's team. Our players come from more than 20 different countries, for example the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, Denmark, Holland, Russia, Bahrain, Korea, Japan and Germany. Through mixing with different nationalities, the players learn about other cultures and countries and develop interpersonal as well as sporting skills. Our more advanced players have the opportunity to compete in one of Berlin's official youth leagues. All other players participate in friendly games and tournaments throughout the year.

The History

The History

The club was first established in the 19th century when Englishman Tom Dutton set up the Berlin Cricket Club. The English Football Club was born shortly thereafter, and, in 1892 the club won one of the very first German Championships.

Sadly, the club slipped into decline for a hundred years or so, but in 2003 the EFCB was reincarnated in order to give English-speaking children and adults a chance to train and play football in Berlin on a regular basis.

The Future

The Future

Because of the big demand and the ever rising interest in our club, we are planning to run our own football field in the near future. To raise the necessary funds we have started our 'Life is a pitch' fund raising campaign.

Please get in touch for more information or simply use our new donations account if you would like to support the club.

Exchange

On top of organising training sessions and games for our own teams, the EFCB actively assists football teams of all ages wishing to come and play in Berlin. With Berlin having hosted six World Cup games in 2006, including the final, the German capital is certain to prove a popular destination for all football fans. Get in touch with us to see how we can help you to organise a trip to Berlin with your team.

We hope to see you here!

"Not only does your club give native English speakers the opportunity to socialise using their mother tongue and non native speakers the chance to practice their English in an informal and fun setting, but it's also a chance for children to experience other cultures. By arranging football matches for British teams visiting Berlin you make a valuable contribution to building links between the UK and Germany."
Paul O'Connor, Head of Public Relations, British Embassy
